Who We Are

We combine over 35 years of legal practice and judicial experience with 35 years of knowledge of insurance, life care planning, and rehabilitation in a unique framework of dispute resolution tools best suited to resolve personal injury, medical negligence and insurance related claims.

The Honourable Giovanna Toscano Roccamo (Ret’d)

Former Judge of the Superior Court of Justice in the East Region of Ontario, Giovanna Toscano Roccamo served for over sixteen years disposing by trial or pre-trial many complex matters following a successful career as a respected litigator.

Between 2017 and 2018, she taught and directed groundbreaking research on juries at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law, after which she authored a report to the Canadian Judicial Council on Jury Selection in Ontario.

She served as a trustee and president of the County of Carleton Law Association (CCLA) between 1994 and 2000.  As a trustee of the CCLA, she helped develop and pilot the introduction of a Practice Direction on court-annexed mediation.  The Practice Direction gave way to the codification of mandatory mediation in the Rules of Civil Procedure.

She was also a member of the Education Planning Committee for the CCLA for over twenty five years.  She subsequently sat as a member of the Education Planning Committee for the Superior Court of Justice in Ontario from 2012 to 2016.

She has been a frequent presenter at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law, Ontario Bar Association, County of Carleton Law Association and Advocates’ Society on a broad range of subjects including cases in personal injury, medical negligence, expert evidence and trial advocacy.

In addition to her many achievements, she has numerous publications including Medicine in the Litigation Process, 1999 and Personal Injury Claims, 1997.

She is a graduate of the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law.

She obtained a Certificate of Completion of a course on Mediating Disputes from the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School Executive Education.

She is committed to the development of new tools of dispute resolution.  This, coupled with her ability to successfully resolve complex multi-party disputes in personal injury, medical negligence and large loss insurance matters, is well known within the legal community. Her ability to focus on solution-based strategies has led to the disposition of many cases before trial.

Lynn Parker, B.A.,M.B.A., C.L.C.P.

Ms. Parker is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the field of insurance.  Her recent experience has been in the role of Insurance Consultant working closely with legal counsel on both Statutory Accident Benefits (SABS) and tort.

With over thirty-five years of experience in Litigation Management, Claims Resolution and Claims Management, she has served in many roles throughout her career which include management roles in Head Office Claims.

Ms. Parker completed her certification in Life Care Planning through Intellicus/University of Florida, following which she was instrumental in the development of the first Canadian program for Certification in Life Care Planning.

During her tenure in the insurance industry, she has been a member of a number of panels/boards including:

  • Canadian Claims Manager Association
  • Facility Claims Committee
  • The International Commission Health Care Certifications
  • Insurance Bureau of Canada [Accident Benefits]

She graduated from Queen’s University with a BA in psychology.  She received her MBA and continues further study towards a M.Ed. in counselling at the University of Ottawa.

She obtained a Certificate of Completion of a course on Mediating Disputes from the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School Executive Education.

Over the years, she has presented to many groups involved in the claims/litigation field in addition to several presentations to the Anti-Fraud Task Force in Ontario.

Her superior technical and analytical skills in both claims management in litigation and rehabilitation have been the key to her success in claims resolution.
